MANILA--President Rodrigo Duterte incited
Filipinos to rob and kill Catholic leaders after alleged incident of abuses,
criticizing Catholic church as most hypocritical institution of the
Philippines.
"Holdupin ninyo ‘yung obispo ninyo,
maraming pera ‘yan. Nanghihingi sa mga mayayaman, akala malilibre sila sa
langit. Pagka lumaban, patayin mo. Maglibing tayo ng obispo. Maniwala ka
diyan mga ‘yan. Puro may asawa," he said during the proclamation rally of
PDP-Laban.
Duterte then, shared alleged sexual harassment
done to him by a priest in Catholic school when he was a minor.
"Jinu-jumble yung b*y*g ko parang
bola." He confessed.
"‘Di ba Friday mass ‘yan, may misa
talaga tapos communion, confession. Doon kami hinihipo.... Lahat kami sa totoo
lang. Hindi ako magsabi ng ganun kung hindi totoo sa karami namin," he
added.
Further claims of abuse of power were also
acknowledged by Pope Francis, saying sexual abuse of nuns by priests and
bishops is a "problem" in the Catholic Church.
"There have been priests and also
bishops who have done that," the Pope said referring to sexually abusing
nuns.
"And I believe that it may still be
being done. It's not a thing that from the moment in which you realize it, it's
over. The thing goes forward like this. We've been working on this for a long
time," he added.
Duterte, further said that church leaders
should not used the pulpit to rift with him.
"Attack me but attack me outside the
realm of religion. If you are a priest, do not use religion as a platform to
criticize me."
Former situation in line with this when a
priest joked that he prayed for President Rodrigo Duterte to get sick during
Mass on peaceful resolution brought by the arrest order against Senator Antonio
Trillanes IV.
"P***** i**** pari magsabi, 'Mamatay
sana si Duterte.' What kind of a s*** is that?" Duterte said.
Duterte, on the other hand, reiterated his
intention to reform the church, saying no less than Pope Francis acknowledged
the problem of priests sexually abusing nuns.
"I will not joke or crack a joke about
that. Sinasabi ko na sa inyo (I am telling you). The Church has to
reform," he said.
Since the President assumed presidency, he
has been constantly vicious to the Church and its teachings in his speeches.
Under Duterte's regime, several priests were
victims of extrajudicial killing named Fathers Marcelito Paez, Richmond Nilo,
and Mark Anthony Ventura.
